About the Law Office of Joshua E. Hummer, PLC

Meet Abigale, Dreama, Pam, Josh, Anna, and Steve.

Our team practices in Winchester and Northern Virginia. While we have served our clients in many areas of the law, we specialize in estate planning, elder law, and estate administration. We are passionate about building strong personal relationships with each of our clients so that we can help them accomplish their goals.

We would love to get to know you and help you create a legal plan that gives you the confidence and peace of mind you need for the future!

“Very Personable

Mr. Hummer drew up a will, advanced directive and a power of attorney for me recently. He is a very personable attorney; he took the time to get to know me and we had a great conversation! His staff was very friendly and his office was immaculate. I would highly recommend Mr. Hummer if you are looking for an attorney!”

“Forward-Thinking

Finding a forward-thinking attorney in this area is a challenge. I have consulted with Mr. Hummer recently on a few business issues and since then have employed his services to work on some unrelated financial matters. His promptness, attention to detail, and progressive nature is highly appreciated by my staff and myself.”

Vic A.

“We first hired Mr. Hummer to help resolve an ongoing property dispute between our business and a neighboring institution.

Being business owners and having dealt with a number of attorneys over the years, we can’t say enough good things about our experience with Mr. Hummer. He took the time to listen and understand our perspective, was honest in his assessment, paid close attention to important details, and never surprised us with any bills for services rendered.

After our positive experience with him in that matter, he has advised us on a host of issues. Whenever a sensitive matter has arisen where our money, career, or reputation has been tested, it’s a relief to have someone we know we can trust.

In a community where there are a number of lawyers to choose from and in a profession where reputation is everything, you can’t go wrong by retaining Mr. Hummer and the level of dedicated service he provides.

We highly recommend seeking his counsel and will continue to do so for years to come.”

"It is my passion to go above and beyond drafting legal documents. I love getting to know my clients personally, so that I can help them envision, create, and implement estate and elder care plans that will protect them and their assets, provide for their most important relationships, and leave their legacy when they pass. "

A DECADE OF DEDICATION

Joshua E. Hummer, Esq.

Hi, I’m Josh.

I have been practicing law in the Winchester and Northern Virginia area for over a decade. I spent 11 years working at a local law office, where I practiced in a wide variety of areas, including corporate formation, contracts, employment matters, real estate, land use, collecting receivables, estate planning and administration, and litigation.

Several years ago, I took the next step and established my own firm. My team and I specialize in estate planning, elder care and elder planning, and estate administration. We create wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance medical directives, and more.

However, it is my passion to go above and beyond drafting legal documents.  I love getting to know my clients personally, so that I can help them envision, create, and implement estate and elder care plans that will protect them and their assets, provide for their most important relationships, and leave their legacy when they pass.

I am co-author of the recently published book, “Fearless: Facing the Future Confidently with Relational Estate Planning”, I speak regularly at organizational meetings and conferences, and I have given seminars on a variety of topics. These have included elder care matters, end-of-life issues, and, more recently, how to navigate the tax changes that are projected to take place over the next few years.

Outside of running my business, I love to spend time with my wife, Jill, and our four beautiful children.  I also enjoy reading, traveling, and trying different local restaurants.

Meet Josh’s Team

Each member of our team brings a unique skill set to the table, but the one thing we all have in common is that we are passionate about providing the best possible legal services for our clients.

Pam is an estate and elder planning specialist who enjoys helping our clients pinpoint their individual goals. Pam brings a kind, steady spirit to our team. Having spent over 15 years operating senior living communities and owning an in-home care company, Pam possesses a wealth of knowledge in the senior care industry. She is deeply passionate about the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of seniors.

Steve is a paralegal and notary who specializes in deed transfers, estate administration, and legal research. He is an information hub with a mind to learn, and regularly tackles big, involved projects. Steve helps us slow down to think things through, and his warm and genuine demeanor endears both his teammates and our clients.

Anna is a writer who specializes in presenting our estate and elder planning philosophy. She brings creativity and expression to our team, and she loves to brainstorm new ideas for the future. She is also co-author of our recent book, “Fearless: Facing the Future Confidently with Relational Estate Planning”. Anna is well-loved for her thoughtful, ardent, and lively spirit.

Abigale is an administrative assistant and notary who is gifted at building warm relationships with our clients. She is highly organized, and is the person we depend on to keep our schedules streamlined each week. Her bright demeanor and positive attitude are a breath of fresh air to anyone who walks in our front door.

Dreama is a paralegal and notary who assists with estate and elder planning matters. She proofs and organizes legal documents, works with clients to get their documents officially signed, and ensures that each part of our process meets the Virginia or West Virginia legal standard of excellence. Dreama is an incredibly hard worker and has a sharp eye for details that we couldn’t do without.

Scarlett is our Thursday housekeeper and entertainment! She is Josh’s oldest daughter and, understandably, his favorite person on our team. After they enjoy their weekly Chick-fil-A lunch together, she spends the afternoon with us and has plenty of great ideas for the office.

Emily is our go-to photographer and designer. She puts the finishing touches on our literature, captures and edits our team photos, and helps us with the visual side of our big marketing projects. She is the interior designer of our recent book, and we’re grateful for her suggestions on how to make our materials aesthetically pleasing while still maintaining a high level of professionalism. Emily has a contagious smile and a quick sense of humor; we love any opportunity to work with her!
