Our Estate Planning Book

We wrote “Fearless: Facing the Future Confidently with Relational Estate Planning” because estate planning often focuses heavily on distributing money, but neglects to account for your most important relationships. Relational Estate Planning is distinct in that it values your loved ones first, and plans for their well-being in the future. If you need to plan your estate but want to do so in a way that protects and cares for the people you love most, you need Relational Estate Planning.

Bi-monthly Estate Planning Newsletter

Once you have your estate plan in place, it’s wise to keep reviewing and revising it as your life and relationships change.

Every other month, we send out ideas, updates, and free resources to help you continue thinking about how to not just leave a plan that distributes your assets, but one that leaves a legacy for the people you love.

Receiving our newsletter is easy – simply fill out the form below and specify “newsletter” in the comments box to be added to the list.

Ethical Wills and Leaving A Legacy

We encourage each client to plan their estate in a way that leaves a legacy for their family and circle of influence.

Who will remember you? What will you give them? How will you leave your mark in the world? Leaving a legacy doesn’t require you to be rich or famous, it just requires that you put some thought and effort into passing your most important values to the people you love.

Elder Care

Elder care is a huge topic, and one that we believe is neglected far too often. Everyone should have a growing understanding of elder care and elder abuse prevention, because whether you have an elderly loved one or are aging yourself, we all have to care for the elderly demographic in an ever-changing world. Here at the Law Office of Joshua E. Hummer, we deal with elder care primarily from a financial aspect. Here is some information to get you started:

Small Businesses

Throughout May, our firm is offering one free legal consultation per week to small local businesses affected by COVID-19. These 30-minute sessions are for community members who need legal advice on how changing laws may affect their businesses and employees.

I (Josh) believe small business is the backbone of our region, and it’s important to me to help business owners as much as I can right now. I know many companies are struggling with the new government and program laws. I’m here to help them strategize and protect themselves and their employees.

Small businesses may apply for free legal consulting by emailing us at info@jehlaw.net and telling us how they have been impacted by COVID-19.

The criteria to be considered is as follows:

 Must be a small business of fewer than 50 employees.
 Must be located in the Shenandoah Valley (VA or WV)
 Must have experienced a negative effect from COVID-19.

Each week, we will choose one business for a free consultation.

I’d love for my team and me to be able to help you if we can, so email us today!

We look forward to putting over a decade of experience and creative expertise toward your legal needs.
